Guido Al Duomo has opened a wine shop alongside his restaurant in the centre of Munich, offering a wine tasting experience for his international clients.
The award-winning sommelier, Julian Schweighart, wanted this space to be able to showcase and offer premium wines.
The shop has been constructed in an existing building, near to Frauenkirche cathedral.
The centrepiece of the concept is a custom-made, walk in chambrair, that is illuminated like a sculpture with a gold-painted back wall as its canvas. A moveable sea star-shaped golden counter allows a flexible use of the space throughout. Gun metal shelves, with washed wooden boards, are inbuilt along the walls.
There is also an extra backstage area with facility rooms intended for tastings, hidden by a luxurious dark green curtain.
Completed by Stephan Maria Lang Architects, this location combines wine and architecture, with craftsmanship at its heart.
Guido Al Duomo Wines has been shortlisted for the Inside Retail Award at the World Architecture Festival 2022.
