The Empty Vessel
A Plinth, a new landmark, pins down on a gentle slope platform to mark a new possibility of the Future Helsinki Contemporary Art yet to come into an Empty Vessel, an unassigned exhibition space. It is also linked Pedestrian Level to Below Exhibition Hall and Water Front Level vertically in which, pedestrian walk down though the Empty Vessel’s Core which its structure is a High Reflective Fracture Panels.
The project reconnects Public Space which have been disconnected since the expansion of the Sea Port. The building is considered as an important jigsaw that connect the Water Front area to Public Park without compromising fully pedestrian access across the site, full accessibility of Sea Port’s Truck and a New Sea Port Terminal allocated at the South.
Empty Vessel is a key area of the project that will exhibit an actual vision of a dynamic agenda in Contemporary Art which is constantly influenced by Helsinki Community and Guggenheim Foundation. An emptiness encourages a conversation between Local People and International Organization through what is a desirable content Contemporary Art Museum should contain at a different occasion. The area deliberately leaves as unassigned exhibition area. Therefor, high flexibility and accessibility in planning are necessary. This area, however, is lit up by a speckle Helsinki Light with High Reflective Fracture Panels. The unconventional atmospheric light creates “The Other Exhibition Space” which allow visitors appreciate all art work in a unique light condition which is displayed regardless of Value and Fame.
