Situated in unspoiled nature at the shore of Lake Möckeln in Småland, Sweden the realization of this small building has evolved through an increased use of the existing summerhouse, which has been in the same family running on third generation. Thus creating the need to expand the existing living area and creating a retreat for sleeping and relaxing.
Also more space for fire wood, tools and bicycles was required.
The architectural aim was to create a fairly modern wooden building, that in it’s exterior could be integrated respectfully as part of a small unity of houses, without trying to claim it’s own loud manifest overpowering the existing complex.
With the facades covered in a mix of horizontal wooden boards, vertical wooden fillets, some mimicking the traditional Swedish houses, and some large glass surfaces, the building is quite traditional.
But it conveys a new way of sensing nature, light and space through the large sliding glass door, which can not be obtained in the existing main building.
