OVERVIEW Grupo Modelo brews and distributes beer exported from Mexico, including their most popular - Corona. In order to be closer to their primary U.S. distributor and more centrally located in the states, they relocated their American headquarters to Chicago. In addition to promoting their brands, Grupo Modelo wanted their new office to feel like a beach.CHALLENGESCreate a space for employees that is comfortable while supportive of work processes.Integrate an entertainment space that is not disruptive to the work environment.Promote multiple brands of beer as well as the parent company.Create an image that feels like a beach.SOLUTIONGlass office fronts allow natural light to be shared with interior office occupants while the break room accommodates family style seating.Pivoting glass panels between the reception & boardroom expand the informal bar, but secured doors maintain the privacy of the office environment.Backlit panels and edge-lit windows display brand images, while an oversized etched logo on the entry doors welcomes visitors. The image of a beach is subtly reinforced by light finishes, including porcelain tile, cast glass and an organic light fixture in the reception while natural light fills the space because of the extent of glazed partitions.
