In a courtyard situation in Berlin Friedrichshain the existing front building was supplemented by the construction of a 6-storey apartment building with underground parking in erected solid construction. The new construction refers to the alignment of the lateral wing and widened to a building with flat roof suffused with light from three sites. Access is available via the entrance at the intersection of the side wing and the main structure of the building by a half turn stair.
The second escape route can be accessed via an external spiral stair.
At the upstream hallway from which two apartments per floor can be reached, is an elevator. The wing of the building contains 2-room apartments with a large open kitchen, inside-laying bathrooms and balcony. The main building volume houses 4-room apartments with an open kitchen and two balconies. The 4th floor and attic flat are combined to form a duplex apartment. A planning focus was a low-cost construction that offers relatively cheap and at the same time very high-quality rental housing.
