This large mews house in Knightsbridge was transformed during an intensive six month build period with a clear remit for creating a family home with an eye on sustainability. We also had to liaise with the Grosvenor Estate.
Core features include a 2/3 storey void which allows light to flood into the building through two oversized roof-lights. To make the most of the light internally, a glass floor and internal windows have been added into the void.
The ground floor has been remodelled to create a new open plan living, dining and kitchen space, along with a master suite. The first floor includes a large bedroom suite with study and a second bedroom. The second floor accommodates the children’s’ bedrooms and the playroom. Throughout there are traditional and high quality materials used, such as oak for the stair case, welsh slate and cedar.
From a sustainable design perspective, the property has a whole house ventilation system with heat recovery, substantial insulation and underfloor heating.
