This project was conceived as a second iteration of a café that had been previously developed. For this reason, the new design draws on references from the first version in terms of lighting fixtures, ceramic finishes, color palette, and furniture.
However, this location presented a different set of challenges, which required the development of new spatial strategies.
The floor area of this venue is considerably smaller than that of the previous café. As a result, much of the work focused on the architectural layout, where the bar and entrance had to be carefully arranged to maximize the usability of the seating area. The limited space condition reinforced the concept of a grab-and-go café, placing a large central condiment island at the core of the layout.
The café is located on one of the city’s key corner sites, directly facing one of its most emblematic buildings. Consequently, the decision was made to fully open glazed façades onto both streets, with the aim of integrating the interior space with the urban life outside.
To avoid a long circulation path from the entrance to the coffee bar, the access point was positioned on Tucapel Street, thereby shortening the distance.
