The Greensburg Cubed project was a semester long research and prototyping studio, designed to be a series of model pods transportable anywhere a natural disaster occurs. We began the semester by proposing ten (10) separate cube schemes at an open charette; eventually narrowing the list of cubes to be built to four. We then set out dividing up all of the responsibilities the studio would have in order to successfully complete a project of this scale. As the public relations director for the collective, I quickly worked to build public knowledge of the studio's efforts. Part of this task was coordinating efforts between the Kansas State University studio and a t.v. production crew working on a documentary on the Greensburg community's return. The four cubes that were completed were the Ice Cube (a portable water filtration/storage/and distribution facility), the Recycling Bin (a portable community recyclable waste collector), the Green Haus (a portable "model home" - demonstration home for [X] green/sustainable building products.
