The 21,700 square foot library was designed for the Las Vegas Clark County Library District. RAFI was the architect-of-record for the project and worked with Barbara Flammang, AIA from Santa Monica, California in developing the design and interior design, construction documents and construction administration for the project. The radial plan allows the entire material-resource area to be visually controlled by staff at the circulation desk. In addition to a full program of library services, the facility contains a small art gallery with controlled access for managing viewing and exhibits and a meeting room for 250 people. The library is designed so that both the gallery and meeting room can be open and operate independently of the library.Later in the library’s life, RAFI was commissioned to oversee the transfer of the Clark County district property to the Henderson Library District. Work during this later phase of service included architectural demolition and renovations, along with associated mechanical and electrical revisions, extensive re-carpeting and interior repainting of the entire facility.
