Perched on the edge of a limestone bluff, this three-story family house is designed to maximize distant views to the city center, as well as foreground views to the city dam, while providing privacy from nearby neighbors and the street. Seclusion from the neighbors to the west is ensured by the use of limestone garden walls that define the formal entry as well as the long rectangular reflecting pond. Fixed and moveable wood slats provide sun protection along this elevation. Movement and views are directed through the house to the east and the back garden. The interior spaces are organized to either side of the two-story entry hall with the master bedroom suite forming a private second floor. The architect performed complete design services, including all interior furnishings and art selection.
