A Green Point is a place that includes the appropriate equipment and facilities to recycle, reuse and repair / upcycle items, in order to inform, to reinforce environmental awareness and participation of citizens in seminars and waste prevention programs.
The main concept relies on a prototype system of metallic beams, joints and panels, which form the volumes and the urban furniture. A grid of 80 cm step is used horizontally and vertically for ergonomic reasons, providing flexibility and ensuring the economy of the structure.
The whole project is formed by four small spatial structures, each one of which is indicated by a different color, corresponding to a different use, and thus facilitating both the orientation and the visual communication.
The individual parts are unified by a planted perforated roof, which reinforces the identification of the Greenpoint. Extensive planting flows around the space giving emphasis to the Greenpoint’s ecological character, composing an urban garden.
In an attempt to create also a landmark, the recycling bins are grouped into a colorful facade. The potential of accessing the bins on both sides (from the Greenpoint’s garden and from the street as well), increases their usability and tones the Greenpoint’s outward orientation.
