Mohakhali is one of the busiest places in Dhaka. There are many commercial buildings and educational institutes in Mohakhali, as a result, it is already a chaotic place. The climate crisis has revealed the poor planning of our cities and the spaces we inhabit. That being the case we want to touch building with ecological materials, sensible buildings that makes us feel alive. It should be considered one of the vital steps towards a sustainable development for our existing society.
In this project, the main purpose was to incorporate Green in practicable way and to reduce carbon emission. Four Wind Turbines has been placed in this building for monitoring wind conditions and turbine performance will improve the knowledge for future projects. This building has Rainwater Harvesting technique which technically is being used in toilet flushing on the office floors, and to irrigate the green roofs which eventually have reduced the use of city water by 286,000 gallons per year. The operable windows provide occupants fresh air, cooling and a connection towards outdoor. There is a central water pond directly connected to the basement.
If we see the form derivation of this building, the solid form has been split in between which creates a passage to balance the two divided parts. And to bring back the connection in between, the bridges has been placed in different level of this building, which serves as cafe/lounge. The edges of these extended passage-like bridges have this fascinating see through feature of the surroundings. One can enjoy the outside view from there. On the top of the building, it has been treated with
perforation which gives a form of Butterfly from above. The center of attention of this building is the bold looking auditorium located on the ground floor which apparently an extended mass coming outside from the inside, and right besides of the auditorium there’s this central waterbody. This full building carries the color scheme of Black and White mostly, with yellow and orange ones to give it a bold semblance on some parts.
