As the NZEB (Net Zero Energy Building) Demonstration project of a collaborative energy initiative between the United States and China, the Green Module: Lakeside Headquarters aims to showcase ultra-low energy building solutions suitable for regions with climates, characterized by hot summers and cold winters. The design starts from energy-saving research tailored to regional climate, breaking the design stereotype that leads to high energy consumption in Chinese office buildings. The project combines passive strategies, active technologies, and renewable energies with industrialized technologies and new materials. This approach ensures harmony between form, space, architectural technology, and energy efficiency. As the first NZEB (Net-Zero Energy Building) in Southwest China, the project has been officially recognized by the Net Zero Energy Consumption Certificate and Carbon Neutral Building Certification and awarded Champion in the 2022 Active House Award China.
As the headquarters of a large design and engineering firm, the Green Module: Lakeside Headquarters envisions a poetic and humanized approach. Integrating seamlessly with the regional environment of southwest China, the project divides the overall volumes into parts, reimagining traditional forms of regional human settlements as modern unit module combination spaces. Flexible and open pedestrian pathways interconnect over 87% of the indoor space and over 8,000 square meters of outdoor platforms, comprising diverse social spaces such as ecological gardens, urban farms, sky basketball courts, mini marathon loops, and solar photovoltaic experimental platforms.
As a visionary technology experiment carrier, through multi-professional and cross-disciplinary collaboration, the Green Module: Lakeside Headquarters optimizes and integrates dozens of new technologies, materials, and equipment incorporating elements like prefabricated articulated buckling restraint support structure, prefabricated steel trusses with close-pieced stacked panels, photovoltaic energy storage direct current flexibility system, natural ventilation and pre-cooling ventilation, triple silver double hollow insulated glass, vertical greening intelligent drip irrigation system, temperature and humidity sub-control technology. After completion, it will persistently undergo testing, feedback, and experience-sharing during operation and maintenance, contributing valuable reference data for the industry.
