The site for Greeley Row is located in the Bay View area on the South side of Milwaukee at the intersection of Deer place and Greeley Street. The soon to be vacant site lies between a traditional neighborhood and the new, modern lofts at the Hide House complex, a cluster of industrialbuildings currently being used for galleries, commercial spaces and artiststudios. The diverse character of the surrounding neighborhood creates a threshold at the site between the large scale buildings and the residential homes. It is also a transition point of building styles and usage with the boxy industrial buildings to the south, the modern lofts to the west side and the more traditional single family homes to the north and east. Greeley Row is a set of modern row houses designed to be sensitive to these diverse site characteristics. The concept behind Greeley Row is to embrace the threshold and aid in the transition between the different neighborhood elements.
