The project is located at the central axis of Futian CBD in Shenzhen, and is a super large-scale, mixed-use, international first-class urban building complex. The plaza has excellent surroundings, looking Shenzhen Civic Center and embracing the CBD Green Square in the north, and Convention & Exhibition Center is in the south; Metro Line 1 and 4 intersect just below the plaza, and the plaza has achieved zero distance seamless linkage with the subway network.
The plaza has become a headquarters gathering center in the CBD with the most complete functions and the most comprehensive formats; and it’s the only "business aircraft carrier", a combination of a super Grade A office building, a large commercial center, a platinum 5-star Sheraton hotel, a large parking lot, an exhibition Expo city, and international apartments, in the CBD. It includes a 3 storied basement, an 8 storied commercial podium, 23 storied hotel and apartment buildings, and a 40 storied office main building with a height of near 200 meters.
The principle of preliminary design is to deepen, improve and refine the original conceptual design that won the bidding.
-- PLAN: While maintaining the symmetrical overall layout and the functional divisions of the original plan, proper adjustment of the plan / spatial design and the circulation organization of the central atrium were made.
On the podium roof, the 10,000 sq. m. eco sky garden was modeled in the form of Western Classical Regular Garden, and, with the differences in elevation, designed to create a beautiful green leisure environment for building users, while widely using green technologies in architectural design. So, the plaza echoes the green landscape of CBD’s 194 hectare Lotus Hill and central axis Green Square, thus creating a harmonious, unique and blessed entire green environment for human settlements.
-- SECTION: The story heights in the sections were adjusted in accordance with the technical and functional requirements of different disciplines.
-- ELEVATION: Keeping the original design’s Western Classical styles, proper adjustments of the proportion in elevation were made and details of the key parts were treated more carefully so as to improve the overall appearance. The string courses of the three-division facade, and the top domes of the three high-rises are designed to be more refined, and the main entrance gable of the podium is improved to be in rich and lively Baroque style.
Based on the building’s character, the rendering adopted solemn main facade and calm pen-light color painting. The work’s seemingly light but indeed deeper and intriguing artistic charm manifested rightly the building’s firm & flexible, graceful & noble, generous & imposing, dignified & peaceful, and elegant & exquisite classical temperament.
