WORDS FROM THE ARCHITECT MARCELO COUTO
The customers are a couple of medical professionals without sons that have a representative collection of art that has been acquired over many years. They have got an apartment with an exceptional area and Ceiling height in an extraordinary location, facing a traditional square in the capital city.
With a very compartmentalized plant, originally with four suites, the first step was the demolition of some walls and the location changes setting the master suite at the back of the plant thus defining the final configuration with only two suites.
The unification of two bathrooms to serve the master suite and the creation of a glass closet located in the intimate area organizes the circulation, creating a functional and striking element in the design and setting a gallery where a big bookcase was designed to expose the large volume of sculptures, books, archaeological pieces with variable size and shape.
With the repositioning of the suites, the dining room, living room, home theater and office were placed on the main facade with full view of the Buenos Aires Square. These flow spaces between themselves create continuous areas defined by the partitions sliding doors.
The finishing materials were used almost entirely in the design like American oak, glass, travertine marble, glass mosaics and polyurethane flooring. They are intended to give unity to the project and don´t interfere with the art collection, which was the initial intention of the customers.
