This is an interior project of the satellite facility in existing facility, a special elderly nursing home, "Senboku-en Hyakuju-sou".
In this site where used to be developed as a new town more than 40 years before,
depopulation is caused by aging population and declining birth rate. Generally atmosphere of special elderly nursing home is negative and not open to public. Here “Grand Oak Hyakuju” will suggest a new identity as special elderly nursing home.
When you enter the bright and open entrance, you can find a café and restaurant. Not only the elderly but office workers, parents and children can come to have lunch and tea. It’s as close as a café shop in town, so don’t have any negative atmosphere at all. Moreover, a convenience store and PC space are installed for general visitors. In the living area, we place high value on comfortableness not from the view of caring managers. So we use carpet as floor material which people don’t want to use just for the reason of maintenance.
This is how the elderly can get energy and vitality, by taking communication with general visitors. It’s the most important theme how the elderly can keep the mental and physical health not just by caregiving. Hence, we designed a special elderly nursing home with bright atmosphere, where different generations of neighbors can gather.
