New facades, entrance porticos and displays set the scenario of the comprehensive transformation of Grand Gateway 66. The building occupies the entire urban block and features an internal food street cutting through it. Along all of its six facades we create a hierarchy of digital and merchandising displays, shop windows and terraces where giant architectural feature glass boxes mark the most important entrances, drop-offs, bridges and connections in the building. At the main Xijiahui junction, the old awkward and bulky steps give place to a new event square sided by flagship stores, dining terraces and the newly configured metro entrances. Overall, the new façade treatments create more transparency, a more retail-oriented feel and the much needed entertainment-driven spark.
