GQ BAR Turkey

Nispetiye Caddesi, İstanbul, Turkey

YEAR
2013
SIZE
25,000 sqft - 100,000 sqft
GQ BAR Turkey
D.ream’s -Dogus Restaurant Entertainment & Management-,
brand new restaurant-club GQ Bar intends to bring a new breath to Istanbul’s
nightlife. Offering a distinguished lifestyle, GQ Magazine marked its
first anniversary in Turkey in 2013 and now, magazine’s first
night club in the World has opened its
doors in Istanbul’s upscale
district, Etiler.
Designed by Noarchitect’s architectural standpoint, the 2
storey bar with a terrace is spread over 750m2, with a daily capacity of 600
people. The design concept is based on the idea of creating a monumental temple
where the lifetsyle that the magazine  is suggesting is being carried out. The use of pure concrete
along with the architectural form designed for the building’s façade,
accentuates the potent, monumental stand of the venue. Hereupon,  the whole interior design approach
has been developed on the fantasy of converting this abondoned temple
-discovered by GQ with enthousiasm as if it’s a sunken ship- into a living
space again.
By means of the outshining design details, GQ Bar is
transforming itself in a living organism during the day,
keeping up with various
gatherings. As the time goes by, the guests are able to make a transition from
a casual lunch to an afternoon coffee break, or to a formal dinner and then to
a dinamic night club.

The design details such as the transformation of the natural
stone floor located in the middle of the bar and the DJ booth into an illuminated dance floor, the visual
effects created by the moving beam lights situated around the giant chandelier,
LCD monitors on the gallery space, convertible ceiling at the upper -VIP
floor and dining/bistro tables
with adjustable heights provide GQ Bar a distinguished identity within the same
framework.
All the furniture, including
the giant chandelier and the DJ booth,  were custom-designed for the
project; especially the round lounge table attracts  attention with its functional detail.
The table has a custom-designed
section in the middle of it that functions as
an ice bucket. The design is
brilliantly complemented by a drainage intergrated into the stable table leg
and the lighting fixture located in the middle of this reservoir.  A single atmosphere  dominates the
venue, every piece from the furniture to candle holders, from the flowerpots to
“the bird of paradise flower” that are presented
especially to gentlemen are carefully selected. GQ Bar Turkey aims to be breath
of fresh air to Istanbul's social life.
