This residential tower, part of the New Urbanist development at Allison Island in Miami Beach, serves as the focal point for the overall community. Situated at the head of the island, the shape of the building evokes that of a ship’s prow.
By manipulating the floor plan and providing carefully articulated shifts, the plan provides for privacy and identity for each unit. The layering of the facade contributes to a complex play of light and shadow in the interior spaces.
The tower responds to the climate of its tropical locale. Deep terraces and aluminum screens shade the units from the sun. Additionally, each apartment is provided with at least two exposures to allow for natural ventilation.
