Good Food Community Center

Firm
SIZE
5000 sqft - 10,000 sqft
The undergraduate "Good Food" studio focused on creating a versatile, multipurpose center for the East Austin community focused on healthy eating practices. The program included seminar rooms, a teaching kitchen, administrative offices, a small cafe, a large deli, greenhouses, and over 15,000 square feet of gardens to be divided among the community. My project focused on a commanding vertical trellis element that would not only serve as a billboard to traffic near Interstate 35, but also function as a unique programmatic element combining the main lobby, greenhouse, and observation deck.  A series of ramps would connect the spaces together creating an interesting geometry when combined with the rigorous grid of the trellis itself.  The design makes the trellis the primary source for vertical circulation and seeks to connect the programs of the office, deli, cafe, and kitchen.
