The result of a collaboration between design firm Pininfarina and the Montreux Oberland Bernese (MOB) railway company, the new Goldenpass Express panoramic trains will connect three of Switzerland’s most sought after destinations with unrivaled elegance.
Slated to begin service in December 2020, the Goldenpass Express will employ the latest in technological innovation, utilizing a revolutionary, variable gauge bogie to switch from narrow gauge to standard, in just a few seconds –– ensuring travelers are able to stay seated comfortably between Montreux, Gstaad and Interlaken. With the Goldenpass Express, the future flagship of its fleet, MOB expects to accommodate an extra 1.5 million passengers a year.
Successfully navigating changes in mechanical positioning and strict safety standards, Pininfarina’s design concept makes it possible to maintain a large window that provides travellers with a frontal view. Moreover, the windows will avoid both reflections and reverberations, making it easier for riders to enjoy the breathtaking views of the surrounding scenery.
