MBH Architects began work with Golden State Lumber in mid-2012 to design their new office, showroom, and warehouse facilities in Concord. The site consists of an office and retail showroom, and three sheds to store their products. MBH designed the exterior and interior layout of the main building, to give it a modern, industrial look.
The other three buildings are pre-fabricated open sheds, with rolling firehouse doors to allow access to trucks, forklifts, and other heavy machinery. Extending canopies protect additional storage space, allowing Golden State to utilize the full extent of their property. The site required management of traffic flow, as there is an entrance for customer parking, and restricted entrances for delivery trucks and vendors to access the warehouses.
