The Golden Beach Station is located at the lake of Nanjing Water Man City, which is an important node of the scenic area together with the beach. We needed to place a volume in the pure natural environment, hoping to give benign feedback to the pure natural environment rather than destructive eye-catching.
We searched the environment for some morphological elements that visitors can naturally and logically associate with, such as the parasols along the beach, the water plants along the waterfront, and the trees in the forest. These images, which are not psychologically offensive to people, allow the building masses to be added to the current environment without any sound. With this in mind, we constructed a simple geometric diffusion structure out of wood to simulate a natural image that could be an umbrella, a water plant, a bush, etc. The "space under the tree" formed under the curved wooden structure becomes a functional space for exhibiting, sitting and restroom.
The use of mirror stainless steel dissolves the wall and makes the structure more transparent and pure. When the sunset penetrates the gap between the wooden structures, it is the most thorough integration of the building into the environment, and the mirrored surface on the ground allows visitors to participate and interact with the natural light and shadow.
Through materials, images and light that are in harmony with nature, the architectural space is implanted in the present environment without moving, becoming a natural window for human interaction with nature.
