The G.O.D. (Genius On Drugs)
The bar project epitomizes a transcendental journey into a realm where innovation meets reverence. Crafted by the visionary YOLO GROUP, this sanctuary emerges as a temple of the divine, yet veiled in the allure of decadent decay, promising an experience beyond the ordinary.
Situated within the heart of Bangkok, the project breathes new life into an aged edifice. The original 4-storey structure undergoes a metamorphosis, shedding its dilapidated skin to reveal a sleek and provocative design. The essence of transformation lies in the strategic demolition of the 2nd and 3rd floors, leaving behind a skeletal framework upon which the future is built.
As one approaches, the façade emerges as a chromatic spectacle, a kaleidoscope of hues encapsulating the anticipation of divine encounter. Crossing the threshold, visitors are greeted by a towering arc of concrete blocks, meticulously arranged to form a curved vestibule—an invitation to transcend mundane realities.
Passing through a veil of yellow plastic, guests enter the inner sanctum, a hallowed space where a mere 20 seats await. The focal point, a precast bar adorned with a crimson terrazzo top, commands attention amidst the remnants of ancient columns and beams. Behind this relic of the past, a curved wall rises majestically, adorned with a cascade of liquor bottles and crowned by a steel rod, a deliberate homage to antiquity.
To the left and right, seating areas sprawl in the wings, bathed in the ethereal glow of stained glass, evoking a sacred ambiance reminiscent of cathedral aisles. Here, patrons sip cocktails, enveloped in a tapestry of light and shadow, while the curved wall, aglow with crimson radiance, instills a sense of reverence.
Throughout the space, the interplay of scale and illumination orchestrates a symphony of worship, elevating the mundane to the divine. In every corner, the spirit of innovation dances with the echoes of antiquity, inviting all who enter to partake in the sacrament of creativity.
In essence, G.O.D. (Genius On Drugs) transcends the boundaries of convention, offering a sanctuary where innovation, reverence, and indulgence converge in a harmonious ode to the divine.
