We were commissioned to design the interior and the furniture of a wine store in a newly-built, mixed-use building. We opted for a restricted scheme of both colour and material, using a right angle as a leitmotif. A polished concrete floor, walls painted black, and a modular ceiling with hollow beams enclosing all the HVAC elements became an austere background for an intricate yet clean shelving and display system. All the furniture was constructed from one single material— regionally-sourced european Ash. A complete lack of natural light made it possible to achieve the atmosphere of an actual wine cellar by using a multitude of strategically-placed, track-mounted spotlights
