If a man doesn’t look that great in
the morning, one of the most effective remedies is putting on sunglasses.
First of all, the world sees him
renewed (depending on the design and density of glasses background).
The second thing is that the man
sees the world more positively – depending on the filters’ colour and the
softening of sunlight and, may be, even additional 3-d effect.
The same thing happens with
architecture and may happen to the building “Pushkinsky Cinema”. The basis of
the proposed project is the new shell of the cinema building, made of special
mesh netting (grid plaiting) from a special material called Du Pont Corian.
It’s constructed from 3 facet
vertical guides, connected to each other in a diamond shape by smaller
wedge-shaped details. These smaller details are tilted causing the “effect of
jalousie” by design.
So on sunny days the easy lace shade
comforts the halls of the building. During overcast days the bright white
material of the grid catches some sunlight and reflects it inside of the halls.
There’s a lot of concern about ecological environment nowadays and this shell
helps to reduce power consumption in the ventilation and air conditioning
systems. Furthermore the white details trapping the sunlight are effective as
an antidepressant during long Moscow’s
winters.
On the front part of the flat roof
we make open terrace under covering easy Du
Pont Teflon tents. It s a beautiful place for rest and presentations in
warm times.
Another idea of this project is to
relive historical associations by adding the contour shadow of Strastnoy
Monastery, which used to be there… So, the association view of building with 3-d glasses will make this site
itself remarkable as a symbolic place of great events.
