This is one of our favorite type of projects. We were approached by an architect with a pre-existing idea. After sharing a cup of coffee, the idea grew and resulted in a combined effort between Serett and the architect. The children in the residence needed to be considered, so we wanted to create a balance between safety, design and creativity.
We used a minimum amount of steel as possible and standard structural glass for this two story space. The stairs are a mix of blackened steel, reclaimed oak and polished ground concrete. The sculptural rod railing and stringers continue beyond the stairs to support a glass catwalk and landing. The concrete step was incorporated to match the kitchen counter top.
