Pidgin Perfect collaborated with Glasgow Film Festival (GFF) to produce a ‘pop up cinema’ on a site located on the embankment of the River Clyde as part of the 2013 GFF programme, working with the Glasgow Film Festival Youth Team to co-ordinate and deliver small elements of project.
The key aim of the project was to produce an interactive screening of ‘Girl Walk // All Day', a 90 minute short film music video set in New York City.
To do this, Pidgin Perfect worked with three dance organisations based in Glasgow. Working with Dance House to a flash mob like 'Dance Walk’ which danced its way through the city from the Glasgow Film Theatre to the pop up cinema site gathering a public audience along the way and working with DanceHQ and 1 Blud Crew to choreograph an interactive dance routine to accompany the energy of Girl Walk // All Day and encourage audience participation.
The dramatic transformation of the redundant and grey stalled space site into an inspiring and engaging performance theatre for one night only brought a new energy and audience to the site, changing the public perception of the purpose and potential uses of the site.
