PROJECT
INTRODUCTION: GIORGETTI SHOWROOM IN MUMBAI
The 112 year old Italian furniture brand Giorgetti
recently opened its first showroom in Mumbai, designed by Rajiv Saini and
Associates.
The 4,000 square feet showroom is located on the
10th and 11th floors of a new residential development.
A terrace on the 12th floor, which offers sweeping
views of the city, displays a range of outdoor furniture and will function as a
venue to host events to introduce new collections.
Traditionally Giorgetti furniture pieces have been
associated with the highest degree of craftsmanship in leather and timber and
we chose to juxtapose these against a very modern palette of materials like
limed oak, resin floors and blackened metal.
The spine of blackened metal runs right through the
centre of the space at both levels and totally encases the vertical movement
through the steps.
The partition walls of the original apartments were
done away with to offer an open plan space that gives the impression of
meandering through a private home.
White lacquered screens zone off areas and
translucent glazing cordons off a meeting room to entertain architects.
