Grand Hôtel Du Niger
Architectural renovation and Expansion
The project of renovation and expansion of the Grand Hôtel Du Niger in Niamey aims to re-organize and re-design all hotel services - offices, kitchen, workshops etc - and all parts open not only to the hotel guests - terrace, bars, restaurants.
Part of the inside-outside renovation project is the new expansion consisting in a new restaurant, V.I.P. lounge and the new management offices.
The relation architecture-nature is particularly strong in Niamey, buildings colors and materials well match the landscape, this continuum gives a no-boundary feeling between nature and city.
This visual and physical sensation is very strong on the back of the grand hotel where the terrace meets the river; this spot is an hidden gem where visitors can enjoy an amazing view on the Niger river and feel a strong connection with nature.
The project stems from this relation, inside-outside, architecture-nature, these two parts are linked by a filter wall that shapes the renovation, limiting new spaces without closing them, defending visitors from the heat keeping the connection inside outside.
