The Georgetown Cupcake Buckhead store in Atlanta is the sixth location – and first in the Southeast – by acclaimed co-founders, Katherine Kallinis Berman and Sophie Kallinis LaMontagne, the stars of the hit series DC Cupcakes on TLC. Situated in an urban street setting within the up-scale Buckhead Atlanta mixed-use development, the store has the character of a modern bakery and pastry shop, with its baking and finishing areas fully exposed to customers. Working closely with the owners, GreenbergFarrow’s architecture and engineering team planned and designed every aspect of the 2,540 GSF store for efficient operations, with all equipment, work surfaces and storage strategically situated for ease of access, and to maintain a neat and orderly appearance at all times. The entire retail space in front of the kitchen rises more than 20 feet for a bright and spacious ambiance. To enhance the store’s street presence and provide tables for dine-in customers, two boxed bay-windows extend beyond the building’s façade on a slight angle. Large, north-facing windows allow indirect sunlight to illuminate the space, as well as provide clear lines of sight into the store.
