This is an architecture of the terrain. We propose to design the terrain of the site prior to any architectural design. New build architecture is integrated in to the fabric of the carefully excavated local terrain. Together they create a special atmosphere unlike any other underground space, giving a protected yet semi-open outside like space. Museum is a building type to preserve and contemplate the cultural continuity which is not dissimilar with tracing back the layers and history of the local terrain. By excavating the ground, the proposed architecture integrates deeply into the environment. Like primitive archetypes of human habitats, it is by default harmonious with its natural environment. We propose a new Museum typology by designing the terrain in which it is situated and to which it is integrated.
