The Urban Facelift Project, originally conceived by Content Design Group in Jacksonville, Florida is an exercise in offering low budget "facelifts" to derelict properties in the Jacksonville area. The Emerging Design Professionals took up the idea and, partnering with Content Design Group, held a competition to redesign several downtown properties and present them at the monthly Art Walk celebration.644 West Ashley Street, the old Genovar's Hall, has a rich history for the city. Once called "Lenape Bar", a local speak easy, it hosted some well known singers and artists of the day, including a young blind piano player named R.C. Robinson, later known as Ray Charles. This design sought to bring back that rich history by converting the derelict structure back into a piano bar and lounge/restaurant.
