The project is going to be the cultural center of Zhengzhou, Henan province, China. The complex is planned to be built by the end of 2016.
The existing buildings will be a complete reconstruction of the exterior and interior.
The complex will include the following functional zones:
-Multi functional Exhibition hall
-Conference hall
-Multimedia Presentation hall
-Library
-Cafe
-Trade zone /shops/
-Relax zone
-Administrative area and technical facilities
-Storage zone
-Square and areas for outdoor exhibitions
The building is on one floor with partial areas on two floors. Access is provided through the lobby, from where you can enter the exhibition hall, cafeteria or conference room. Each functional area has a separate entrance, which have a functional connection between each other.
The multi functional exhibition hall will be used for different types of exhibitions. For this purpose, it is designed so that it can be changed /depending on the type of the exhibition /. The hall is designed of two main elements- wooden constructions, resembling a forest and white sculptural elements- between the "forest trees". Wooden structures can be moved depending on the exhibition.
Moreover, the headboard /panels/ between the "trees" are several different types and depending on the exhibition will be using the appropriate size or type of the panels.
Furrow in the "trees" provides a natural landscaping with electronically automated water irrigation.
The white sculptural elements are 2 types. The first one is the basis for placing the exhibition boards. The other type is a multipurpose "hall in the hall", where local exhibitions, conferences, and other events and presentations are going to be held. Exhibition boards are going to be mounted in different places, thanks to a simple structure between the sculptural elements. The sculptural elements will be built with material “Corian” by “Dupont”.
The exhibition will be seen in sequence "S" -shaped, thus the visitors wouldn’t miss any of the exponents.
The natural lighting of the hall is only overhead lighting from the north, and also the hall providing flexible artificial lighting for the exhibits / built-in the "tress" /.
At the right end of the exhibition hall is located the entrance of the multimedia hall, where movies, multimedia exhibitions etc. are going to be projected on a wavy screen. In contrast, the left end of the hall goes into a relaxation area, including a library, constructed by the same standard elements, but combined differently, which gives it more of a classic feeling. The library has a separate entrance and also connection to the cafe.
The design of the square front of the building is in the same style like the interior of the building. Here the "trees" /same design like inside/ are used for street lighting. The facades are reconstructed completely, while retaining the basic geometry of the central volume. There are also partial "packaging" of some volumes with white sculptural surfaces using same style like in the interior /the material is “Corian” by “Dupont” /, thus creating harmony between interior and exterior. Some of the buildings are completely "packed" with dark metal, while the facades of others will be filled with architectural concrete.
Some of the facades will be landscaped with a system for landscaping walls.
The complex consists of area of 8000 square meters and it is currently in approved conceptual phase. The construction is going to begin as soon as the deep design has been completed.
