The
Nouvelle Comédie building is constructed like a sculptural object, a skilful
assembly of simple volumes, a striking (and identifiable) signal for the future
walkers alongside it.
A
future covered railway line, at present in the project phase, should in the
course of time, constitute a green cover licking as it were the building, thus
orienting the public.
This
fragile equilibrium of boxes is decorated on each of the different volume
facings, by a stripe-based optical façade, an obvious reference to Swiss
graphics and inspired from the railway universe, that is to say its kinetics
and signalling modes.
Thus
it becomes a huge poster, a communication medium announcing spectacle
programmes and schedules.
Nevertheless
this project remains modest in terms of energy and materials : its
limited environmental impact was planned. Thought was given to economics
and being economical, by firstly using proven construction processes, and
secondly, the latest state-of-the art techniques.
