Located in the city’s first skyscraper, Klockmann Haus, Generator Hamburg has a long history. Having been everything from a famous department store to an acoustic studio that played host to the Beatles back in their early days; today it’s an edgy and dynamic space perfect for the young traveller looking for a great place to stay in comfort.
Generator Hamburg boasts clean-lined interiors, fun furnishings and imaginative art, but still pays homage to its own unique history. The Original large glass windows have been kept, along with the brick walls, which were discovered during construction. They were restored and kept in order to highlight the building’s history, and to keep visitors immersed in the everyday life of Hamburg.
Hamburg’s culture is reflected by a simplistic yet colourful material palette that helps bring the architectural design to life. Local artist, Till Kiefer created a sculpture that playfully acknowledges the importance of Hamburg’s cycling culture by using recycled bicycle frames.
