GENERAL ROOF MAINTENANCE
There are several things you need to check no matter what the type of the roofing system you have. Some maintenance tasks are common to all types of roofing materials, others are specific and need a special type of maintenance. The best is to check everything with the manufacturer to take care of the requirements. Flashings may last long but also require more maintenance. If you are not sure how to do the maintenance or you feel uncomfortable working on the roof, consider contacting a professional roofer. ANNUAL MAINTENANCE
At least once a year you should check the cladding, flashings and the chimneys on the roof. You can use a ladder, but be very careful, and do not work when the roofing surface is wet. There are many falling and slipping accidents when talking about roofing maintenance. Check the roof before you step on it, and use safety ropes. CORRODED FLASHINGS
Corrosion is very common in areas near and at the sea, but also appear in other larger areas. Flashing is protecting the vulnerable roofing areas. If they fail, that can seriously damage your roofing. Remove the corrosion and paint the surface with the primer. If the corrosion very big, think about replacing the flashing.
