Program: Conceptual urban design of Gaza fishermen’s port
Location: Gaza Strip
Area: 15,000m2
Design: 2008
THIS PROJECT proposes a design of the fishermen's port in the city of Gaza, dealing with the city's sea boundary, whilemaintaining historical values together with a new urban structure that can lay the grounds for the development of the city. The port is designed as a continuation of the main street, "Omar El Muktar", maintaining an urban sequence that begins in the old city in the east, passes Palestine Square and proceeds to the fishermen's port, through which the city meets the sea.The urban joint begins in the market square - the entrance to the port from the city; continues through a mixed-use residential area, the khan, the pier, and eventually the mosque and madrasa complex that acts as the entrance gate for sea arrivals.
