The idea for the pavilion stemmed out of the need for a sheltered space which would act as a year-round connection to the garden. It has a retractable element that allows direct access from the main house, but doesn't block the path infront. The space can function as a separate room, an extension to the house or a garden pavilion. In summer, large walls can be opened to create an environment integrated with nature, while in winter the pavilion is a cozy extension to the main living room. The final form was influenced to allow maximum amounts of sunlight to reach the living room. Prefab panels were placed on top of concrete foundations. Shelves are integrated within the walls. The walls are covered with a polyurethane finish in blue, topped with a green roof, that helps to distinguish it from the main residence as a new addition.
