Straddling an existing family garden fence
line, this open-air structure was designed to act both as a gateway as
well as a storage space for various gardening equipment and supplies. As
the third member of a family of accessory structures,
the garden gateway maintains the ranch’s structural materiality through
the use of oil field pipe as a superstructure and exoskeleton. Coupled
with a corrugated metal skin, and a concrete slab; these materials
achieve the building’s lightness on the land as well as maintaining the
legacy of a multi-generation oil family
