A single
family house in the countryside, located near Wrocław, was designed in 2009 and
implemented in 2011. The author's assumption when creating the first stage the house
design was to obtain a spacious living space, creating a coherent whole with the external
integral veranda of the house and the garden. It was decided to design two independent
verandas belonging to the living area (southern and northern verandas). Verandas, as external
parts of the living room , fulfill the function of a seasonal relaxation zone and a dining room,
used interchangeably depending on the season, day and temperature.
The deep arcades in which they are located protect the inhabitants from rain and sun.
In 2019, the architect also
designed an external part of seasonal recreation, independent of
the building, with a swimming pool, a spacious open and covered rest area and an outdoor
field kitchen with a dining room. The added part also includes a vegetable greenhouse and a
garden roo m. Both the house and the relaxation area on the opposite side of the plot have
been designed in a uniform character so that they visually form a coherent whole. Thanks to
this, the garden, which was located inside the complex, was annexed to the interior of the
house, and the visual boundaries between the interior and exterior were no longer obvious.
The building with an outdoor recreation area is equipped with 2 heat pumps, including one air
heat pump, heating the water in the pool, as well as recuperatio n and hidden photovoltaic
panels. Brick is a material that has always been here, and the traces of which are always found
when we discover the history of a place. Ceramics as an architectural material is a bridge
between the past and the present. Brick designates warmth, durability, nobility and class.
That's why we still use it.
