Edward Gallucci, a commercial photographer specializing in tabletop photography, leased a space that was previously occupied by a printer. This gritty industrial space in the photography district required a renovation that would both bring light into the studio and fulfill the technical needs of Gallucci’s specialty. The focal point of the design is its shooting area, with its large cyclorama, a background with a “limitless horizon” effect for tabletop tableaux. A sequence of dedicated areas—entry, reception, office/lounge, dressing room, darkroom, and workbench —are integrated in the layout. The layout is organized by subdividing a square in half, with one bay the main shooting space; and the other half, all the support areas. The support areas include: entry/reception, darkroom, dressing room, and an office area with lounge seating and kitchenette. Storage walls and floors [under-floor platform drawer] sub-divide the zones.
