The Feng-Shui
philosophy inspired the project of the new clubhouse in Shanghai.
The design concept started from the Thai Chi t’u symbol, which was twisted and
stretched in order to generate the building’s volume. The 10 storey building
is covered in a complex external envelope, made of two opaque curved surfaces:
the black one representing the yin part and the white one representing the yang
part of life. The rest of the façade is studied as a high tech double skin,
with a natural shading system made of plants put between the two transparent
layers. All the internal spaces rotate with the red stair- case giving a sense
od dynamism to the entire architectural organism and to its visitors too. Several
functions take place in the 9320 mq: offices, conference rooms, suites, a
gourmet restaurant, spa, gym and a spacious ballroom help keeping the new
clubhouse always live, night and day.
