Gaia House project will be built under an urban plan for two floor houses and it will be implanted on a small building land.
The proposal took in consideration the proximity of the railway and it tries to take advantage of the closeness of the coast line.
In order to diminish the noise produced by the railway, we juxtaposed a "second skin" that dissipates the noise and, at the same time, it provides control to the solar incidence in the spans. This "second skin", built of "cobogó", (ceramic or cement hollow element),allows the creation of a homogeneous volumetric image which is opposite to the heterogenous house facade.
In order to achieve a sustainable design, Gaia House was conceived with an interior courtyard, that works as a space organizer element, it provides illumination to the core of the house, it enables the introduction of a green element/ space/ area, and it allows to collect rain water, creating a waterfall effect. Additionally, the roof was designed with the goal of being covered by solar panels in order to take advantage of the great solar incidence on the location.
