With Carlo Ceccolini. Rejecting the idea of a compact building as a single architectural unit, a more fully articulated entity has been conceived. This decision has meant breaking up what would otherwise be a solid mass and accentuating the addition of three vertical volumes, connected by an “interstitial void” that provides circulation. The proportions, contrasting materials and the simplified form of the elements have all been articulated with the aim of emphasising the abstract image of the overall. Addressing a site that is typically characterised by similar interventions, this holiday apartment block seeks to emulate the morphological features of mountain houses through a new approach to traditional alpine architecture.
