Our client is one of the most important retail store for design
furniture in Brazil and decided to release its new brand providing a
showroom where interior designers could create projects using their
catalogue of furniture.
The brief was a holiday house where clients could experience different environments along the year.
The project goal was to create a single façade unifying two absolutely
different houses (in size, style, room areas, levels, etc.) and create a
landscape environment merging both using minimal budget.
Due to legislation limitations, the silhouette of both houses (in terms of
area) had to remain the same, no area could be added and any
demolition would mean area loss.
The propose was to create a single façade in steel structure slightly
detached from both houses creating a single common element. Its columns
should match the alignment of the structure of each house, similar in
sizes but not regular. The voids will form window displays and have an
independent louvre system protecting from the direct sun and providing
"movement" to the façade, allowing different combinations, revealing or
hiding spaces.
A strong cast-on-site concrete volume will differ from the uniform façade and mark the main entrance.
As the propose is "client's beach or country house", the whole roof slab
of the houses could be used as showroom since no addition but landscape
were made providing twice more area size than expected as showroom of
outdoor furniture, also a great spot for an open air function to
release new products.
The project was approved by the client as concept design and developed by their own project department for construction.
