This monument, located on the campus of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, commemorates two unknown martyrs of the Iran-Iraq War. Incorporating Persian letters rising from the ground, the design pays tribute to the martyrs while subtly reflecting their anonymity, blending cultural symbolism with a profound sense of reverence.
Structure and Construction: Integrated Design and Precise Calculations
The structure of this memorial has a seamless form, with precise surveying and the integration of Iranian geometric patterns in its design. Uniform concrete pouring was applied throughout the project to maintain structural cohesion. The design uses white exposed concrete with a nano-coating, providing durability and water resistance, complemented by turquoise tiles that symbolize authentic Iranian spaces.
Geometry and Parametric Tilework

The geometric design of the structure is inspired by the historical architecture of Mashhad, particularly the Goharshad Mosque. The parametric tilework, featuring turquoise, white, and blue colors and geometric patterns of "kārbandī," reflects the surrounding landscapes and rises towards the sky. With its simple concrete shell, the monument avoids excessive ornamentation to emphasize the honesty and simplicity of the architecture.
