Pushkinsky
cinema represents the true spirit of Russian theatrical arts, it was
and continues play a central role in bringing the cinema to the
public and public to the theatre:
Our
solution suggests to respect, preserve and enhance the sense of the
place by visual, tactile, and spacial experiences. We propose “frozen
in time” approach to the existing building by completely cladding
the entire exterior façade, including every minute detail in a while
Dupont “Corian” material, ( the street level is clad in black
Corian) thus preserving the historical significance of this monument,
the white façade then becomes a blank canvas for infinite
possibilities for the future. For example, the HD projection
technology can be used to create dynamic and living façade
scenarios, while keeping the building open to the future
technological advancements. The second layer to our proposal is to
create a free-form glass enclosure using Dupont “Sentryglas”
system around the building. The free-formed glass structure alludes
to the theatrical Russian flag which represents the new Russia and
her achievements in the arts.
The
covered public space created by the glass structure can be used for
pre-functions, exhibitions, or just a place to enjoy.
