Our proposal takes inspiration from Pushkins poem A Winter Morning and his views on social reform as a thematic driver for the facade alteration of the Puskinsky theatre. The building proposes to establish a relationship with the Pushkin square and pay homage to the cultural influence of Pushkin as an icon in Russian and Moscows history. The idea is to bring activity back within and around the building during all times of the year.
The proposed facade alteration is a manifestation of the poem A Winters Morning. It is an expression of Pushkins perception of Russian winters. The building alludes to this and response directly to the environment from Summer to Winter. As the poem Winters Morning is a romantic response to Russian winters we want the building to become the poetic expression of the poem to the city.
